Actress Jiya Shankar has addressed speculation about a possible separation from her fiancé Kaaran Dhanak, dismissing reports of trouble in their relationship as baseless and sharing affectionate pictures with him on social media.
Putting an end to days of rumours, Jiya posted a series of happy moments with Kaaran along with a heartfelt note about the realities of building a life together. She acknowledged that relationships involve disagreements and adjustments, adding that the couple was learning to understand and become better for each other.
“If no one told you how difficult life would get when you’re learning to live together, then let me tell you this ain’t no Bollywood movie,” she wrote.
Describing them as two people who love each other but sometimes have differences, Jiya said they were not perfect but had chosen to be together. She called Kaaran her best friend and expressed hope that they would continue to grow together.
Directly addressing the speculation, the actress said claims made about her fiancé and their relationship had no truth to them. She also indicated that she would be more careful about what she shared on social media to avoid assumptions and baseless rumours.
The speculation had intensified after social media users noticed that Jiya had unfollowed Kaaran on Instagram. Some cryptic messages she shared about relationships, cheating and emotional hurt further fuelled talk that the couple might have called off their engagement. Neither had initially confirmed any rift.
Jiya had spoken about being in a relationship earlier this year without revealing her partner’s identity. She surprised fans in August by announcing her engagement to Kaaran, sharing photographs from an intimate sunset proposal.
