Nora Fatehi summoned as witness, not accused in Sukesh Chandrashekhar case: Legal Team clarifies

Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi’s legal team has clarified that she is a witness, not an accused, in the ongoing Rs 200 crore extortion case linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

The clarification comes after Fatehi was summoned by the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi.

On Monday, November 3, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) matter concerning Sukesh Chandrashekhar was heard. Fatehi’s lawyers appeared, stating she couldn’t attend due to prior professional commitments and a short notice. An application for exemption from personal appearance was filed, leading to an adjournment until November 6, 2026, with fresh summons issued for her.

The court, however, expressed displeasure, with Special Judge Gagandeep Singh remarking on her conduct: “Her conduct is not up to the mark. Don’t take the court for granted.” Police informed the court they had no confirmation of her attendance despite the summons.

Chandrashekhar is accused of extorting approximately Rs 200 crore from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, while he was in Delhi’s Rohini Jail. He allegedly promised to secure her husband’s release. The EOW investigated the case and filed a chargesheet under MCOCA. Fatehi was previously questioned by the EOW and her statement recorded under Section 164 of CrPC, later naming her as a prosecution witness.
