Kolkata: Both Sensex and Nifty declined in early trade on Monday, October 13. At 9:20 Sensex was trading at 82,236.22, down 264.60 points (or 0.32%), while Nifty was at 25,203.50 points, down 81.85 (or 0.32%).
The major gainers on NSE in early trade were 3IINFO-RE, GCSL, HAVISHA, UNIVPHOTO, UMAEXPORTS, DREAMFOLKS, AFFORDABLE, CTE, WAAREERTL, GLFL.
Prominent gainers on NSE
On Monday morning Asian indices declined as trade relations between the US and China escalated. On Sunday, China issued a statement saying they are not afraid of a trade wat with the US, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of additional tariffs on imports from China. The Australian index S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.68% and South Korea’s Kospi dropped 2.35%. The Japanese market was shut for the holidays. The crucial GIFT Nifty was 0.36% down on October 13 morning.
In the US stocks fell on Friday after Donald Trump escalated trade tension with China, which followed Beijing tightening restriction on rare earth exports. Trump’s plans for retaliatory tariff came fater the markets closed.
Sensex, Nifty on October 10
At close of trading on October 10, Sensex settled at 82,500.82, up 328.72 points (or 0.40%) while Nifty closed at 25,285.35, up 103.55 points (or 0.41%). The sectoral indices to gain were Realty (up 1.72%), Telecommunication (up 1.13%) and Healthcare (up 0.99%), Oil & Gas (up 0.13%), Those which went down were Commodities (down 0.28%) and Metal (down 0.86%). BSE Mid Cap index rose 0.36% and BSE Small Cap jumped 0.59%.
The major gainers in the Sensex basket were SBI, Maruti 1.72% and Axis Bank while the major laggards were Tech Mahindra, TCS and Tata Steel. Of the 4,343 active stocks, 2,474 stocks gained, 1,706 stocks declined, and 163 stocks remained unchanged.
