Day 2: Aadarsha Kutumbam holds on, Vishwaksen’s Cult flops miserably

Venkatesh-starrer “Aadarsha Kutumbam” is holding reasonably well after taking a modest opening on its first day. The film witnessed a slight jump in collections on the second day compared to the opening day in the Telugu states.

The film grossed Rs 34 crore worldwide in its first two days, which is a decent figure for a Venkatesh-starrer. It collected Rs 11 crore in the domestic market on the first day and improved to Rs 13 crore on the second day. Including the overseas collections, the worldwide gross for the first two days stands at Rs 34 crore.

Directed by Trivikram, “Aadarsha Kutumbam” is banking on family audiences. With Sunday ahead, the film is expected to post higher numbers than those recorded in its first two days.

However, despite holding reasonably well, the collections remain fairly ordinary considering the combination of Venkatesh and Trivikram. Both have delivered much bigger hits in the past, and the film is yet to demonstrate the kind of box office strength expected from this combination.

On the other hand, Vishwak Sen’s “Cult”, which he both acted in and directed, has bombed at the box office. The film failed to register a decent opening on the first day, and its collections dropped further on the second day following overwhelmingly negative reviews.

The film’s two-day domestic gross stands at around Rs 2.5 crore, indicating a disastrous box office run.

Vishwak Sen, who previously managed first-day collections of Rs 7-8 crore, is now struggling to post a Rs 5 crore gross over an entire weekend. “Cult” marks his second flop as a director.
