Janhvi Kapoor Reimagines Sridevi’s Iconic ‘Nagina’ Look for Halloween

Mumbai, Maharashtra: Janhvi Kapoor paid a heartfelt tribute to her late mother, the legendary Sridevi, this Halloween by transforming into the iconic ‘ichchadhari naagin’ from the 1986 fantasy thriller ‘Nagina’.

This nostalgic recreation brought back one of Bollywood’s most unforgettable cinematic images.

Janhvi meticulously recreated the snake-woman look, complete with the film’s signature poses and an elaborate rendition of its original promotional poster. She was dressed in a custom-designed pink and ivory ensemble by Nidhi Halani, complemented by vintage jewellery, a maang-tika, and a bindi.

What truly brought the recreation to life were her fierce expressions and distinctive palm movements, echoing Sridevi’s memorable portrayal of Rajni. Janhvi extended the tribute by enlisting friends to embody other key characters from the film. Social media personality Orry stepped into Rishi Kapoor’s role, while photographer Vaishnav Praveen portrayed Amrish Puri’s menacing snake-charmer, Bhairo Nath.

The trio even recreated the original ‘Nagina’ poster, bringing familiar visual elements of the 1986 blockbuster to life. Janhvi shared pictures and transformation details on Instagram, offering fans a glimpse into the elaborate Halloween homage. Her sister Khushi Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Karisma Kapoor were among many who lauded the effort, with Khushi remarking, “You have won Halloween.”

‘Nagina’, directed by Harmesh Malhotra, was a massive hit, becoming the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 1986 and a cult classic. Sridevi’s portrayal of Rajni, an ichchadhari naagin seeking revenge, remains a defining performance, highlighted by the iconic song “Main Teri Dushman, Dushman Tu Mera.”
