Radhika Apte Rejects Bollywood’s Obsession With Cosmetic Surgery

After her Akka co-star Keerthy Suresh spoke about not messing with her face or body with cosmetic surgery during a session of Zoom Fan Club, also spoke about her views on the matter. She said, “Whether I do plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, whether I take Ozempic or not, it’s not even up for negotiation. I would never do it. I would not even take a Botox injection. It’s not even on the table. I won’t!”

The actress continued, “The truth is, when I talk about it, people say, yeah, but there is a lot of pressure; you don’t understand. I’m like, ‘I do understand. I did come to this industry, and the first meeting I had was with a woman who asked me to do a nose job and a boob job.’ That was my first meeting. I was thrown out of a film I had signed with a very big director because I put on three or four kilos. They knew I had put on and I had two months to lose it, but they got stressed. And that film became such a huge hit, so then I was heartbroken, and I was terrified about my weight.”

The actress stated, “But the truth is that yes, there is a lot of pressure from people and what people talk, but I think there comes a responsibility with the film business; we need to stop taking Ozempic, and we need to stop doing cosmetic surgeries because the younger generation looks up, and these are the beauty standards we set up. I’m sorry to say, a lot of people talk about accepting your body, but they have done surgeries, and they are taking Ozempic. I’m sick of watching it.”

which is written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, also stars Anshuman Pushkar, Tanvi Azmi, Monika Panwar, Anjali Patil, and Poornima Indrajith. The period series is now streaming on Netflix.
