New Delhi: After commencing the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 on a high note by winning two consecutive games against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. India now faltered in the ongoing tournament as they lost two successive games against South Africa and Australia.
India were almost winning the Proteas’ game, but their under-par performance gave South Africa a chance to bounce back, and they took the game away from their hands. Now in the Australia clash, India recorded the highest-ever total in World Cup history, despite scoring 330 runs, they lost the game by three wickets.
India are still in third place in the points table, as they won two out of four games. India have to play against England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, which make their stretch even more challenging after losing out two games.
India have to win three out of three games to directly qualify for the knockouts. If they win two games out of three, then they have to depend on.
The top-four teams will advance to the knockout stages. India were one of the favourites to qualify for the knockouts, but now, after losing two consecutive games, India’s chances are diminishing with every loss, and they will face a tidy road to advancing to the next stage.
