Actress Kanika Mann recently shared a harrowing account of her first relationship, detailing the abuse she endured. While speaking with fellow Bigg Boss contestants, Mann recounted how her college-era boyfriend was abusive, with one incident leading to her ears bleeding after he slapped her.
Mann explained that she didn’t have a boyfriend until college. Upon moving to Chandigarh, she felt a sense of freedom and, driven by a fear of missing out (FOMO), quickly entered a relationship with the first person who showed her attention on Facebook. She described him as a ‘psycho’ and an ‘abusive man’.
Recalling a particularly disturbing incident, Mann revealed that her ex-boyfriend once entered her classroom unannounced and slapped her in front of everyone for wearing a striped suit. She had recently gotten her ears pierced, and the force of the slap caused them to bleed. She noted that no one intervened to help her.
His controlling behavior extended to snatching her phone, throwing her hostel room keys away, and threatening to call her father. On one occasion, he did call her father, but luckily, he didn’t answer. Mann believes this saved her from further distress at the time.
The turning point came when Mann, who had studied law for several months, began to understand her rights. During a confrontation, he followed her from her hostel to her college department. He grabbed her, and to her horror, pulled out a knife, cutting his own veins multiple times. Fearing for her life, she spotted an acquaintance, Arjun, and urged him to call the police. University police arrived within minutes, and her ex-boyfriend was taken into custody.
Despite his arrest, the ordeal continued as his family members threatened her. However, Mann found strength in her family’s unwavering support, which helped her navigate the difficult period. Kanika Mann is known for her roles in TV shows like ‘Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega’ and ‘Chand Jalne Laga’.
