Priyanka Chopra And Winnie Harlow Bring Two Shades Of Red To Diwali Dressing

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas opened their Los Angeles home for Diwali this year, and the dress code was clearly festive. The host and her guest of the night, model Winnie Harlow, both picked deep reds, but they wore them in very different ways. Priyanka went rich and regal, while Winnie went full bride.

Priyanka’s Maroon Moment

Priyanka chose a maroon outfit with an off-shoulder neckline and a fitted, gown-like shape. It was covered in gold zari work with small touches of coloured thread, and pearl and bead trims ran along the neckline. The standout detail was the embroidered band that wrapped around her neck like a choker and connected to the outfit at the back, leaving her shoulders bare. She kept her jewellery minimal. Statement earrings with uncut stones and big maroon drops matched the outfit perfectly, and a small polki maang tikka sat at her hairline. She skipped a necklace, since the embroidered neckband already did that job.

Her hair was the most traditional part of the look. Priyanka wore a sleek, slicked-back bun wrapped in a fresh jasmine gajra, a classic choice that never goes out of style. Her makeup was warm and soft, with mauve eyeshadow, flushed cheeks, full brows and a brick-red lip.

Winnie’s Bridal Red

Winnie wore a red lehenga covered in sequins and threadwork. The flared skirt had floral and paisley patterns all over it and caught the light every time she moved. Her blouse had a sweetheart neckline, heavy beadwork and a row of red beaded loops at the hem. She draped a sheer red net dupatta with lace borders over one shoulder, which softened all the embroidery.

Where Priyanka held back on jewellery, Winnie went all in. She wore a layered silver-toned choker with red stones and pearl drops, a red teardrop maang tikka, long pearl earrings and a stack of bangles in silver, gold and red. A gold haathphool on one hand completed the set.

Henna And Curls

The most personal part of Winnie’s look was her mehendi. She had henna art on her arms, chest and midriff that seemed to follow the natural patterns of her skin. Winnie has vitiligo and has spoken openly about it for years, so the detail meant something. A behind-the-scenes photo also showed an artist adding white henna to her hand.

She wore long honey-brown curls with a centre parting and kept her makeup neutral with bronze eyes, winged liner and a glossy nude lip. She also shared a sweet throwback photo of herself as a little girl in a red and gold top with a bindi, placed next to her look this year.
