India continued its impressive campaign at the Hylo Open 2026, with PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Anmol Kharb securing quarter-final victories on Friday to advance to the last four of the BWF Super 500 tournament in SaarbrÜcken, Germany.
Anmol Kharb delivered another impressive performance in the women’s singles event, overcoming sixth seed and fellow Indian Unnati Hooda in a three-game battle. The 19-year-old registered a 21-17, 18-21, 21-16 victory in an encounter that lasted 68 minutes.
Kharb made a positive start by taking the first game 21-17. However, Hooda responded in the second game, winning 21-18 to force a decider. Kharb showed composure under pressure in the final game and secured it 21-16 to seal her semi-final berth.
The young Indian has been among the standout performers in the tournament. She had earlier stunned Denmark’s third seed and world No. 12 Line Christophersen in the round of 16, registering a significant upset to reach the quarter-finals.
Kharb will now face an even bigger challenge as she prepares to take on compatriot PV Sindhu in an all-Indian semi-final.
Sindhu booked her place in the last four with a commanding win over Denmark’s Amalie Schulz. The second seed needed only 28 minutes to wrap up the contest, winning 21-12, 21-10 in straight games.
Coming into the tournament after finishing as runner-up at the French Open, Sindhu once again looked in good touch. The Indian controlled proceedings throughout the match, maintaining her advantage and preventing Schulz from building any meaningful momentum.
Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen produced a strong comeback in the men’s singles quarter-final to overcome Finland’s Kalle Koljonen. The seventh-seeded Indian recovered from losing the opening game to register a 14-21, 21-17, 21-13 victory in 66 minutes.
Koljonen took the first game 21-14, putting Lakshya under pressure early in the contest. However, the Indian raised his level in the second game to draw level before carrying his momentum into the decider.
Lakshya dominated the final game, closing it out 21-13 to confirm his place in the semi-finals. He will now face France’s Toma Junior Popov for a place in the title clash.
