State-owned energy giant GAIL (India) Limited has announced strong financial results for the second quarter of the financial year 2026-27, with revenue from operations reaching ₹45,924 crore.

The company also reported a significant profit after tax (PAT) of ₹4,650 crore for the quarter ending September 2026.

Compared to the previous quarter, GAIL’s standalone revenue increased from ₹38,981 crore in Q1 FY27 to ₹45,924 crore in Q2. Profit before tax (PBT) also saw a rise, standing at ₹5,838 crore from ₹5,773 crore, while PAT grew from ₹4,292 crore. For the first half of FY27 (April-September 2026), GAIL’s revenue surged to ₹84,905 crore, a notable increase from ₹69,824 crore in the same period last year. PBT for this period was ₹11,611 crore, significantly higher than ₹5,357 crore in the year-ago period, and PAT climbed to ₹8,943 crore from ₹4,104 crore in H1 FY26.

In a major development, GAIL’s board has given in-principle approval for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) to list shares of its subsidiary, GAIL Gas, on Indian stock exchanges. This move aims to unlock value and provide greater transparency. The final details regarding stake dilution, valuation, and IPO structure will be decided by GAIL Gas based on recommendations from lead managers and will then be presented to the GAIL board for approval.

GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Gupta lauded the company’s performance, highlighting the resilience of its natural gas transmission and marketing businesses despite global challenges. He emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted supplies to customers and continuously improving operational efficiency. GAIL also reported a capital expenditure of ₹7,600 crore in the first half of FY27, demonstrating its investment in growth. The news positively impacted GAIL’s shares, which closed with a gain of 2.74% at ₹167.91 on the National Stock Exchange on Friday.
