Actress Janhvi Kapoor is facing criticism on social media after her comments about the working style of South Indian cinema sparked a fresh controversy. The actress recently opened up about the criticism surrounding her role in Ram Charan’s Peddi during her appearance on Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee with Karan 9. However, her remarks about bound scripts and camera angles in South Indian films have not gone down well with a section of audiences. She stated that bound scripts are rarely available and actors do not always get to see the camera angles in advance. According to her, she had to understand the filming process as things progressed and tried to make certain portions less problematic.
These comments triggered a fresh wave of trolling, with several Telugu cinema audiences questioning her generalisation about the South Indian film industries. Social media users pointed out that Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam cinema have different working methods and cannot be clubbed together based on her experience with a couple of Telugu films. Some also questioned why she was making such remarks instead of speaking specifically about her experience on Peddi. A section of users also questioned her accountability, arguing that she was an established actress and could have raised her objections more firmly during the shoot. Some social media comments accused her of shifting the blame onto the director and the filmmaking process.
