Inter Miami CF salvaged a 2-2 draw against FC Cincinnati in an MLS regular-season clash, with Luis Suárez opening the scoring before substitute Riquelme Fillipi struck a dramatic late equaliser for his first goal for the club.
After a goalless first half, Suárez broke the deadlock in the 61st minute. Casemiro picked out the Uruguayan forward inside the left side of the penalty area, allowing him to take a touch before curling a right-footed effort into the top-right corner.
The goal took Suárez’s tally to 16 in the regular season, while Casemiro registered his first assist since joining Inter Miami in the summer.
FC Cincinnati responded late in the game, scoring in the 80th minute before taking the lead six minutes later to put the hosts under pressure.
However, Inter Miami found a way back in the 90th minute through Fillipi, who had come on as a substitute just seven minutes earlier.
The Brazilian winger received the ball from Rodrigo De Paul on the left flank, cut inside to evade a defender and calmly placed his finish into the bottom-right corner to level the score at 2-2.
The strike marked Fillipi’s first goal in Inter Miami colours. De Paul, meanwhile, recorded his 16th assist of the regular season, moving to the top of the club’s assist charts for the league campaign.
The draw leaves Inter Miami with 15 wins, 11 draws and six losses from 32 regular-season matches, giving them 56 points and third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Inter Miami have also been the league’s most prolific attacking side this season, scoring 75 goals in 32 matches, seven more than the next-highest-scoring team.
The Florida club will next travel to face the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday.
