Mumbai: Actor Cezanne Khan recently celebrated 25 years since the launch of the iconic television show ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’. The show, which first aired in 2001 and ran successfully on Star Plus until 2008, marked a significant era in Indian television.
Khan, who famously portrayed Anurag Basu, took to social media to share a collage of nostalgic stills from the original series, featuring himself alongside actress Shweta Tiwari, who played Prerna Sharma. His post, tagged with #25years #celebration #kasautiizindagiikay, acknowledged Balaji Telefilms and Ekta Kapoor, but notably did not tag Shweta Tiwari.
This omission aligns with long-standing reports of a strained relationship between Khan and Tiwari off-screen. Both actors have previously admitted to rifts and periods of not speaking during their time on the show, despite their professional collaboration.
‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’, produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms, captivated audiences with the intricate love story of Anurag and Prerna. Their journey, filled with separations, sacrifices, and misunderstandings, became a hallmark of daily soaps. The dramatic use of Prerna’s dupatta in romantic scenes became an iconic visual.
The show also introduced other memorable characters, including Ronit Roy as Rishabh Bajaj and Urvashi Dholakia as the legendary antagonist Komolika. Even after two decades, the show’s title track remains a fan favorite, underscoring its lasting impact on Indian popular culture.
