The World Hindu Congress (WHC) 2026 organizing committee has formally requested explanations from Meta regarding the removal of a video featuring Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The video, intended to promote the upcoming World Hindu Congress in Mumbai (December 18-20, 2026), was reportedly restricted from viewing in India shortly after its October 26 upload on Facebook and Instagram.
WHC organizers state the video, which welcomed participants to Mumbai, was removed twice, with Meta citing only vague ‘legal requirements’ without specifying the exact legal provision or platform policy violated. This lack of clarity has led the WHC to express concern about potential bias against Hindu-related content and to question the fairness and consistency of Meta’s content moderation policies.
Letters have been sent to Mumbai Police, Delhi Police, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), urging intervention to obtain a clear explanation from Meta. The WHC has also directly contacted Meta, seeking transparency, reinstatement of the video, and assurance that similar actions will not recur. The congress, an initiative of Swami Vigyananand of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, aims to bring together Hindu leaders and thinkers globally, with prominent figures like RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and various Chief Ministers expected to attend.
