Volkswagen has a long-standing association with the Rock In Rio multi-day music festival held in Rio de Janeiro. Every time the brand is the official sponsor of the event, the launch of a new special edition is almost a given.
In 2026, the focus is on the T-Cross , which is the topselling SUV in Brazil. The Rock In Rio special edition of the T-Cross will be showcased as the official car of the festival. The festival will be held from 4th September to 7th September and on the next weekend, from 11th September to 13th September.
Volkswagen T-Cross Rock In Rio special edition – What’s new?
With the Rock In Rio special edition of the T-Cross, the focus is on enhancing the SUV’s visual appeal. While this special edition is based on the entry-level range, it gets styling updates similar to those usually seen on the top variants of the T-Cross. The core objective is to connect the SUV with the world of music, which lies at the heart of the Rock in Rio festival.
At the front, one of the key highlights is a full-width LED light bar. This feature is normally available with only the higher-spec variants of the T-Cross in Brazil. ORVMs and door handles have been blacked-out for a sportier presence. Colour options for the T-Cross Rock in Rio include Ninja Black, Sunset Red, Platinum Gray and Ascot Gray.
The latter three are essentially dual-tone colourways, featuring a blacked-out roof in Ninja Black shade. The addition of Ascot Gray is noteworthy, as this colour is normally available with the top-spec T-Cross Extreme trim. Exterior highlights of the T-Cross Rock in Rio special edition include 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels in a darkened finish.
These are wrapped in puncture resistant Seal Inside tyres. The tyres have a layer of internal sealant, which can effectively handle small punctures by reducing the loss of air pressure. Festival-inspired decoration includes the official ‘Rock in Rio’ logo on the front doors and the boot lid. One can also spot the electric guitar logo on the rear pillars.
Interior updates
Inside too, the official Rock in Rio logo has been used on the dashboard and front seats. The special edition also gets exclusive upholstery, featuring new detailing and contrasting stitching. Another key update is the addition of six speakers with the T-Cross Rock In Rio special edition.
Based on the entry-level range, T-Cross Rock In Rio special edition utilizes a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged flex-fuel engine. It generates 128 hp and 200 Nm of torque, and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The other engine option available with the T-Cross in Brazil is a 1.4-litre unit. It generates 148 hp and 250 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Linked to the music festival, the pricing is also celebratory for the Rock In Rio special edition of the T-Cross. is not asking for any premium. The special edition is available at R$ 142,990 (Rs 26.31 lakh), which is the same as the respective standard variant. This ensures that buyers won’t have to think twice about choosing the special edition.
