As per Indian Express, Janhvi Kapoor is set to open up about the important role Shikhar Pahariya played in her life during one of her most difficult phases. On the latest episode of Koffee With Karan Season 9, hosted by Karan Johar, the actress recalls how Shikhar stood by her after her mother, legendary actress Sridevi, died in February 2018.
Sridevi passed away in Dubai due to accidental drowning in a bathtub. Her sudden death sent shockwaves across the film industry and left her daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, devastated. During the conversation, Karan Johar recalls observing Shikhar’s efforts to be there for during the difficult period. The actress reveals that although they were not officially dating at the time, he made a conscious decision to stay close in case she needed him.
Janhvi shares that Shikhar was studying in London when Sridevi passed away. He reportedly took half a semester off and travelled to Mumbai. She also reveals that he later moved to a friend’s house in Juhu so he could remain nearby. Recalling his decision, Janhvi says, “I think he was studying in London and he took like half a semester off. He came to Mumbai, and he used to stay in town with his dad then, and I only found out much later that he moved to his friend’s house in Juhu for a month.”

She further explains that Shikhar did not necessarily expect to meet her every day. Instead, he wanted to ensure he was available whenever she might need support. Janhvi adds, “Not that I was seeing him every day, but later on I just found out that he was like, ‘No, in case she needs me, I just want to be around.’” The revelation highlights the quiet way Shikhar chose to support Janhvi during a deeply painful chapter of her life, even before their relationship became widely discussed.

Janhvi Kapoor and Shikhar Pahariya have shared a close bond for several years. Although the couple has largely kept their relationship private, Janhvi has spoken warmly about his presence in her life in interviews and public appearances.
In April, during a podcast with Raj Shamani, the actress discussed how love has helped her feel more secure and confident. She described Shikhar as someone whose presence makes her feel safe enough to express herself without fear of being judged.
Janhvi said, “Love looks safe. It has helped me deal with the helplessness you psychoanalyse. It’s the biggest thing. I don’t feel as helpless anymore because of his presence. And his presence has always done that for me in my life.”
She also spoke about the comfort and freedom she experiences in their relationship, explaining that being loved has helped her become more confident in her own voice and thoughts.
