Hyundai is aiming for combined annual sales of 2.5 lakh units from Creta and Bayon, with the newly launched SUV bringing AI-powered connectivity and advanced driver assistance to its challenge against Maruti Suzuki.
Hyundai has set a target of 2.5 lakh annual sales for Creta and the combined, as it looks to strengthen its position in . With Creta already leading individual model sales, Bayon gives the company a second offering to attract buyers and challenge Maruti Suzuki’s combined volumes.
Hyundai Makes Technology A Key Differentiator
Bayon introduces Hyundai Motor India’s first in-built generative AI voice assistant, featuring intelligence by Perplexity and voice technology from SoundHound AI. The system supports natural conversations in English and can respond to queries covering travel, weather, restaurants, news and sports.

The Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, or ccNC, combines two 12.3-inch screens in a curved panoramic layout. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, more than 70 Bluelink connected features and support for over-the-air updates across up to 19 controllers extend its digital capabilities.
For Hyundai, these features give Bayon a distinct pitch beyond styling and dimensions. The aim is to attract buyers seeking connected technology and convenience while building on the familiarity of its petrol powertrain and ownership network.

Safety And Comfort Support The Pitch
Available Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS includes 23 assistance features, with Highway Driving Assist and navigation-linked cruise control among the highlights. A surround-view monitor and blind-spot view monitor are also offered, depending on the variant.
Six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and tyre-pressure monitoring are standard. Higher equipment levels bring ventilated front seats, an eight-way powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof and Bose audio.

Bayon measures 4,245 mm long and has a 2,600 mm wheelbase. Its cabin offers reclining rear seats and a 60:40 split rear backrest, while Hyundai quotes 505 litres of boot space under its stated measurement conditions. Power comes from a four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine delivering 115 PS and 143.8 Nm. Transmission options comprise a six-speed manual and iVT automatic. CNG Bayon launch is confirmed for Jan 2027.

Creta Leads Models, Maruti Leads Combined Sales
Hyundai’s ambition comes against a changing competitive backdrop. Creta remained the bestselling individual model in the 4.2–4.5-metre SUV grouping during Q3 2026. However, Maruti Suzuki led at the manufacturer level through the combined contribution of Victoris, Grand Vitara and eVitara. Its quarterly segment share stood at 27.26%, compared with Hyundai’s 21.34%.
Bayon therefore gives Hyundai an opportunity to compete with a broader lineup. The challenge will be to attract additional customers to the brand while maintaining Creta’s established appeal.

A Target To Build Towards
Hyundai’s stated ambition of 2.5 lakh combined annual sales translates to approximately 20,833 units a month. It provides a clear volume goal for the two SUVs. The strategy is to pair Creta’s existing customer base with Bayon’s technology-led proposition. How effectively Bayon converts that equipment package and starting price into incremental demand will determine Hyundai’s progress towards its target—and its ability to take the combined sales lead.
