Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty recently shared a heartwarming anecdote about how he discovered his daughter Athiya Shetty’s relationship with cricketer KL Rahul.
Speaking on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, the veteran actor recounted praising KL Rahul in front of his wife, Mana Shetty, remarking, “Mana, he is a very impressive boy.”
To his surprise, neither Mana nor Athiya reacted, simply exchanging a knowing glance. Later, Mana quietly informed Suniel, “You know, they’re at least talking to each other now. There’s nothing more.” This subtle revelation marked the beginning of his awareness.
Athiya and Rahul’s romance blossomed after reportedly meeting through a mutual friend in 2019. Their friendship soon deepened, culminating in their wedding on January 23, 2023, at Suniel’s Khandala farmhouse. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Evaarah, on March 24, 2025.
Suniel and his son-in-law KL Rahul share a strong bond, with the actor frequently expressing his admiration for the cricketer. Rahul himself often celebrates Suniel, notably wishing him on his birthday on August 11, calling him the ‘Best Ajja’ to Evaarah. He shared a touching photo on Instagram Stories of Suniel holding Evaarah, captioning it, “Happy birthday to the best ajja.”
On the professional front, Suniel Shetty was last seen in the comedy ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and is set to star in an upcoming action thriller alongside Tiger Shroff.
