Neetu Kapoor’s ‘Needle Not Scissor’ Advice for Ranbir Kapoor’s Ideal Partner

Veteran actress Neetu Kapoor once shared her unique perspective on the ideal life partner for her son, Ranbir Kapoor, long before his marriage to Alia Bhatt.

Her insights, revealed on Simi Garewal’s show ‘Simi Selects India’s Most Desirable,’ offered a glimpse into her hopes for her son’s future family life.

Neetu Kapoor famously expressed, “There are two kinds of girls, one who comes with scissors, and one who comes with a needle. Scissors is the one who breaks the family, or jo needle ke sath aati hai that kind off mends the family together, makes sure the family stays together. And that’s the girl I would like.” This analogy highlighted her desire for a daughter-in-law who would unify and strengthen the family bonds, rather than create divisions.

Today, Ranbir Kapoor is happily married to actress Alia Bhatt. Their journey began with dating, culminating in their wedding on April 14, 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter, Raha, on November 6, 2022, marking a new chapter in their lives. Alia’s warm integration into the Kapoor family seems to align well with Neetu Kapoor’s earlier sentiments.

Later, on ‘Koffee With Karan,’ when asked about marriage advice for Ranbir and Alia, Neetu Kapoor offered a refreshing perspective. She stated, “Nothing. Because in today’s day and age, do what you want to do. Just be happy. And also, every generation is different. What I went through, I can’t expect them to do the same thing, so they know their own vibe.” This reflects a modern, understanding approach to relationships, acknowledging generational shifts.

Neetu Kapoor herself shared a long and cherished marriage with the late Rishi Kapoor, whom she married in 1980. They had two children, Riddhima and Ranbir. Rishi Kapoor passed away in April 2020 after a two-year battle with leukemia, leaving behind a legacy of love and family values that continue to resonate.
