Ranbir Kapoor: Playing Lord Rama in ‘Ramayan’ helped me become a better father to Raha

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor shared that portraying Lord Rama in the upcoming cinematic epic ‘Ramayan’ was not just a role, but a profound responsibility that deeply impacted his personal life.

He admitted that his initial reaction to the offer was one of fear and self-doubt.

Speaking on a Diwali special episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ with Amitabh Bachchan, Kapoor revealed his initial apprehension. “Sir, when I was offered this role, I knew it wasn’t just a role; it was a huge responsibility. My first instinct was fear, wondering if I was worthy of it, if I could do it, considering the faith of crores of people is attached to Lord Shri Ram,” he explained.

He further described how this anxiety soon transformed into deep gratitude. “Very soon, sir, this fear turned into gratitude. At this stage in my life, I was getting the opportunity to become a good actor, and more importantly, a good human being. During that same period, I became a father for the first time; my daughter Raha was born. I believe it was a gift from God, sir, that I got the opportunity to become a better human being, to understand Ramayana more deeply, and to work with all these wonderful people.”

Kapoor concluded by emphasizing the enduring lessons from the epic. “Sir, becoming like Lord Shri Ram may not be possible, but learning something from his ideals is a significant thing for all of us.” This role, he believes, has contributed to his journey as a father and an individual.
