Love stories are always special, and so is JioHotstar Tadka’s ‘My Ex-Boyfriend Is A Cricket Star!?’. The microdrama is a beautiful blend of love, betrayal, drama, and deceit, packed with sweet and emotional moments. And the reason this movie is worth watching is how effortlessly it unfolds.
The story follows a sweet romance between a middle-class Samrat Gill and a super-rich princess Riddhi. Their love blooms in college, and as Samrat plans to propose to Riddhi, he faces an unexpected hurdle—her mother, who threatens to stop him from pursuing her. And guess what? Samrat doesn’t become rebellious but quietly frames himself as having cheated Riddhi, which makes Riddhi hate him.
Samrat and Riddhi’s love faces its biggest hurdle, and they fall apart. But years later, the common middle-class boy has become one of the most sensational cricketers, while Riddhi’s luxury life becomes one full of struggles as she tries to make her way at an esteemed news agency as a journalist.
As Samrat returns to his hometown, Indore, he gets welcomed by the same company where Riddhi works, which puts her in an awkward spot. However, what turns the situation even worse is when the media house looks for Sanjay’s ex, who inspired him to become who he is today. But Riddhi still hates him. Though Samrat tries to expose her mother’s deceit, Riddhi gets manipulated by her emotions. And this makes it even more interesting: will Riddhi find the truth about her mother, and will Samrat and Riddhi ever reunite? Well, you will have to watch it yourself for that.
The cinematography is clean, vibrant, and impressive, while director and creator Agastaya Jain, with fine detailing, portrayed the Journalism backdrop. From dialogues and visuals to angles, the show balances everything at the right point. The true strength lies in the cast’s strong performances.
Aastha Sharma as Riddhi is sweet, confident, and impressive, while Adhik Mehta as Samrat is charming, honest, and cute. The two beautifully portrayed their layered characters with sincerity, making the show even more engaging.
However, amid all the balancing, it was the plot’s twists and unpredictability that kept viewers hooked, guessing what’s next. The show didn’t have to try hard to grip viewers, but it won hearts with its sweet, emotional moments in its engaging love drama.
The microdrama is produced by Creators Retina Entertainment and stars Aastha Sharma and Adhik Mehta.
