New Delhi: The Bharat International Rice Conference (BIRC) 2026, held in New Delhi, concluded successfully with a significant turnout of 24,387 participants.
This two-day event, organized by the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF), focused on strengthening India’s position in the global rice trade.
The conference, which ran from October 23 to 25, brought together policymakers, international buyers, exporters, and industry experts. Key discussions revolved around expanding India’s rice exports, exploring new trade opportunities, and improving competitiveness in international markets. Dignitaries like former President Ram Nath Kovind and Union Minister Chirag Paswan also graced the occasion.
Participants engaged in fruitful business-to-business (B2B) meetings, leading to new trade agreements. The agenda covered crucial topics such as global demand-supply dynamics, emerging export destinations, trade policies, and navigating shipping challenges. Experts emphasized effective risk management to minimize commercial losses and disputes, especially concerning export documentation and credit insurance.
The second day highlighted the importance of quality certification, government policies, and sustainable practices. Discussions on pesticide-residue management, product testing, and traceability aimed at reducing shipment rejections and building buyer confidence. The conference also explored opportunities from Free Trade Agreements and advancements in sustainable farming, including water conservation and carbon credit initiatives.
IREF announced BIRC 2027, promising an even bigger and better platform. The federation reaffirmed its commitment to boosting India’s rice industry through innovation, quality, and global collaboration.
