Shilpa Rao Says Her Heart ‘Broke’ After Mumbai Performance Was Abruptly Stopped

Singer Shilpa Rao expressed deep disappointment after her performance at a Bollywood music event in Mumbai was abruptly brought to an end, leaving her without an opportunity to thank her fans or bid them farewell.

Despite continued cheering and chants of her name from the audience, the singer reportedly was not given additional time on stage. Following the incident, Shilpa took to Instagram to share her feelings, thanking fans for their unwavering support while admitting that the experience had left her deeply hurt.

In her Instagram post, she wrote, “Mumbai, a little piece of my heart broke tonight. It hurts deeply to have something so beautiful taken away from us like this. But even when the music stopped, you did not. The way you kept calling my name, the love in your voices. I could feel it all. Our story tonight was left unfinished. I promise, I will come back. I love you, Mumbai. Forever and ever. Shilpa.”

The music event, produced by Deepak Choudhary, featured several singers who entertained the audience with their performances. However, Shilpa’s act reportedly came to an unexpected halt when her microphone was switched off as she waited to address the crowd and conclude her set.

According to reports, some male performers were allowed additional time on stage, while Shilpa was not given a similar opportunity. The singer reportedly waited for nearly 15 to 20 minutes for her microphone and the stage lights to be switched on again.

During the wait, fans continued cheering and chanting her name, expressing their desire to see her perform longer and give them a proper farewell.

The abrupt end to her performance triggered criticism on social media, with several users questioning the organisers’ handling of the event and describing the treatment of the singer as disrespectful.

The controversy gained momentum online, with hashtags such as #JusticeForShilpaRao gaining traction as fans voiced their support for the singer.

Shilpa’s message, meanwhile, focused on the emotional connection she shared with the Mumbai audience, expressing gratitude for the fans who continued to support her even after the music stopped.
