Kunickaa Sadanand on Diljit Dosanjh Concert Row: ‘Security Concerns in India are Real’

Actress Kunickaa Sadanand has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert, emphasizing that security concerns in the country cannot be overlooked.

Her comments come after initial reports suggested Delhi Police had denied permission for the October 30 concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, only to grant clearance later.

Speaking to IANS, Kunickaa highlighted that security issues have become a significant concern, pointing to various incidents involving public figures. “There is a security problem in our country. Every day, some celebrity faces threats or attacks. So, such concerns legitimately lead to event cancellations,” she stated.

Sadanand expressed uncertainty about whether the concert’s initial hold was a decision by Diljit’s team or the authorities. “If the government isn’t ensuring law and order, it raises questions about citizen safety,” she added. The concert, part of Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura World Tour, faced a temporary halt as Delhi Police reviewed security arrangements. BookMyShow Live clarified that the event was never cancelled, merely put on hold for safety assessments. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal had initially cited intelligence reports and festive season security demands for the temporary denial, though specific threat details were not disclosed. The concert is now set to proceed, marking the start of Dosanjh’s India tour, with subsequent performances in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Lucknow.
