Patna Police took major action in view of Bihar elections 2025. 8 illegal weapons were seized from Bihta-Maner and 5 smugglers were arrested. There is a suspicion that these were to be used to spoil the election atmosphere.
Patna: In view of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the special police action taken in the capital Patna has made the goal of keeping the election environment spotless and safe clear. During the special operation of Patna Police, a total of 8 weapons and their related equipment have been recovered from Bihta and Maner areas of West Patna. In this case, the police have detained 5 arms smugglers.
Giving information to the media, SSP Patna said that the recovered weapons included a country-made pistol, a gun and a police rifle. Preliminary investigation has indicated that these weapons were to be used to instigate election atmosphere at the local level or in any factional activity. He clearly said, “Such arms consignments could have been brought with the aim of influencing the elections and creating an atmosphere of fear. Timely action has averted a possible major disaster.”

According to police sources, this action was taken on the basis of information and intelligence input from local people. Patna Police said that information received from the general public played a decisive role in the action. The SSP said that the raid was conducted in a planned manner and all the recovered material is being sent to the crime lab for forensic investigation. Important clues related to the source and supply of weapons are expected to be found in the interrogation of the arrested accused.

The SSP said that such actions before the elections will help in ensuring free and fair elections. The SSP told the media, “We will not allow anyone to use weapons under any circumstances. The presence of weapons at the time of elections means fear and pressure, we will not tolerate it.” He also informed that investigation in the case is ongoing and coordination is being done with state and, where necessary, central level agencies to access the network of the accused.
Appeal to the public to give input, confidentiality will be maintained
Patna Police has also made a special appeal to the public. Police want to say that if anyone has any kind of suspicious information. If there are indications of arms dealing, drug dealing, or any person’s intention to commit election violence, they should immediately inform the police. A special WhatsApp number 8102488655 has been issued to provide information. The SSP clarified that this number will remain under his surveillance and no one’s privacy will be violated.

Patna Police also said that arms smuggling is often linked to drug and other criminal activities. Therefore, this case is not just about weapon recovery but also an opportunity to break the wider criminal network.
