Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, who was pursuing engineering before making his film debut with Pyaar Ka Punchnama, was once caught by his mother playing video games at a parlour instead of attending his coaching classes.
The amusing anecdote was shared by Kartik’s mother during an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show. She recalled that Kartik was attending coaching classes during his board examination year and that she had instructed his teacher to inform her whenever he missed a class.
When Kartik failed to turn up one day, his mother decided to follow him and discovered that he was spending time playing video games at a parlour instead of studying. Furious at his absence, she admitted that she lost her temper.
“Itna gussa aaya ki kya uthaa ke maar dun, phir maine sandal pehna tha, wahi utara,” she recalled, explaining that she was so angry she took off her sandal and hit him with it.
Kartik’s mother also revealed that she was initially unhappy when he landed his first acting role in director Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama, as she had hoped he would become a doctor or an engineer.
“Main chahti thi doctor ya engineer bane. 8–10 saal mein thok peet ke engineering karwai ki degree to le le,” she said, explaining that she had spent years pushing him towards engineering, hoping he would at least complete the degree.
She added that she had put aside her own work commitments and moved to Mumbai to support his education. She would stay in the city and teach him, encouraging him to complete his studies.
Kartik’s mother shared another amusing memory from that period. She recalled accompanying him to an examination and asking him afterwards how it had gone. His response left her surprised.
“Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 ki script likh ke aaya hun!” he reportedly told her, joking that he had spent the exam writing the script for the sequel to his debut film.
