BYD’s luxury brand Denza to enter India on November 13, D9 MPV and Z9 GT expected

BYD’s luxury car brand Denza will make its India debut on November 13, marking the Chinese automaker’s entry into a more premium segment of the country’s car market. The company is expected to reveal its India-bound models and retail strategy at the event, with the D9 luxury MPV likely to be its first offering. The Z9 GT electric performance car is also expected to feature in the line-up.

Denza D9: Expected price and range

Denza D9 is a large, luxury electric MPV designed for buyers seeking spacious, chauffeur-driven travel. It is expected to compete with the MG M9, Kia Carnival, Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM.

The India-spec model is tipped to feature a 103kWh battery, a front-mounted electric motor and a claimed range of around 520km. Its expected price is approximately ₹85 lakh to ₹95 lakh, ex-showroom, although official pricing has not been announced.

Denza Z9 GT: Performance-focused electric car

Z9 GT is expected to bring a different proposition to India’s luxury EV market. The four-door shooting brake reportedly uses a 122.5kWh battery and a three-motor setup producing more than 1,100bhp.

International specifications indicate a claimed 0-100kmph time of around 2.7 seconds and a range of up to 600km on the WLTP cycle. Its expected price could fall between ₹1.2 crore and ₹1.5 crore, ex-showroom. India-specific details remain unconfirmed.

Denza India launch: What to expect

Denza was established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, before becoming wholly owned by BYD in 2024. In India, it is expected to operate separately from BYD’s existing dealerships to maintain its premium positioning.

November 13 event should clarify the initial model line-up, pricing and retail plans. Until then, the D9 and Z9 GT specifications and prices remain expected figures rather than confirmed India launch details.
