GIFT Nifty Achieves Record Open Interest of $21.74 Billion, Signifying Growing Investor Confidence

GIFT Nifty has hit a new milestone, recording an all-time high open interest of 4,78,079 contracts valued at a staggering USD 21.74 billion as of October 22, 2026.

This significant achievement reflects a growing interest and participation in derivatives trading at India’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The NSE International Exchange (NSEIX) highlighted this landmark, emphasizing that GIFT Nifty has emerged as a crucial benchmark for the Indian equity market. Since its full-scale operations began on July 3, 2023, trading activity on NSEIX has seen remarkable growth. The platform has recorded a cumulative trading volume exceeding 78.12 million contracts, with a total turnover reaching USD 3.61 trillion by October 22, 2026. These figures underscore the expanding trading landscape and increasing global participation in India-linked derivatives through the IFSC ecosystem.

NSEIX expressed gratitude to market participants, acknowledging their vital role in the success of GIFT Nifty. The exchange, established in 2017 and regulated by the IFSCA, offers a diverse range of financial products, including derivatives, currency products, and various primary market instruments, contributing significantly to India’s financial market internationalization.
