Actress Jenna Ortega, widely recognized for her role in Netflix’s hit series ‘Wednesday’, has announced her intention to step away from television for a period after completing the show’s upcoming third season.
The 24-year-old star, who has been working in the industry since childhood, expressed a desire to explore new avenues in her career.
Speaking on Josh Horowitz’s ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, Ortega stated, “I think after ‘Wednesday,’ I’ll probably be off the TV for a while.” She elaborated on her decision, saying, “I was bouncing from show to show as a kid, this to this, and I want to leave time for new things.” This move aligns with her recent choices, including her departure from the ‘Scream’ franchise, citing creative differences and a desire for new challenges.
Ortega is set to reprise her role as Wednesday Addams in the third season, expected in 2027, alongside co-stars like Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The series, a major success for Netflix since its 2022 premiere, has garnered four Emmy Awards. Ortega’s career spans various TV shows and films, including ‘Jane the Virgin’, ‘You’, ‘Iron Man 3’, and ‘The Fallout’. Her decision reflects a growing trend among young actors to carefully curate their careers and prioritize personal growth alongside professional success.
