New Delhi: have won the toss and opted to bowl first in the against New Zealand at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday, October 24. The visitors made two changes to their playing XI, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prince Yadav coming in place of Ishan Kishan and Mayank Yadav.
Kishan suffered a low-grade strain in his right adductor during the first T20I and has been ruled out of the second match of the series. Meanwhile, Prince’s inclusion was described as a “tactical change” by captain Shreyas Iyer. New Zealand also made one change to change their playing with Jacob Duffy replacing Adam Milne.
Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson will open the innings, while Sooryavanshi will bat at No.3. The Men in Blue took a 1-0 lead in the five-match after defeating New Zealand by4 wickets in the first T20I at the same venue on October 22.
“We have had a little bit of time to recover and catch up on some sleep. Everyone is in decent shape, I would say. Some of the players, including myself, do their training on match day. So, we are in a good place. It is important to maintain the aggression and repeat the things we did well in the first game,” Captain Iyer said at the toss.
“In addition, we need to be proactive in the field and ensure we don’t have an extra fielder inside the circle, especially in the last over. Ishan is injured, so Vaibhav comes in for him. Prince comes in for Mayank, which is just a tactical change,” he added.
