Ishan Kishan Out of Second T20 Against New Zealand, BCCI Informs

The Indian team, which recorded its biggest win while chasing a target in the first T20 against New Zealand in Christchurch on Thursday, has suffered a major blow ahead of the second T20.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan will not play in the second T20 due to injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Ishan Kishan’s absence from the second T20 through its social media page. BCCI wrote on its official X account on Friday morning that Ishan Kishan is out of the second T20 against New Zealand due to a low-grade right adductor strain.

He sustained the injury during the first T20 match of the series. The BCCI medical team is monitoring Ishan. Ishan Kishan’s absence from the second T20 is a significant setback for Team India.

The Indian team successfully chased down a target of 226 in the first T20. Although Ishan did not score big in the first T20, getting out for 1 run off 3 balls, his batting capability is crucial for Team India in this series. The team hopes that Ishan will be fit before the third T20 scheduled for October 27.

The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan is one of the most capable and strong middle-order batsmen, strengthening the team’s batting lineup. He is also capable of playing at any number according to the match situation. He has scored 1955 runs in 67 innings across 67 matches, including 1 century and 13 half-centuries, with a highest score of 103 runs.

The Indian team is set to play 5 matches in the ongoing T20 series against New Zealand. Having won the first match, Team India leads the series 1-0.
