Rishabh Pant Return Date Confirmed, Set To Be Named Captain: Report

Rishabh Pant is the first-choice wicketkeeper batter for India in Test matches. However, he is not part of the ongoing series against West Indies, after being ruled out due to the foot injury he suffered in July during the 4th Test vs England at Manchester.

He is still recovering, as the whole of India, including fans anf tthe team management, are eagerly waiting for his return. Now, it looks like. he might actually be making his return to the field, that too as a captain.

Rishabh Pant has been named in the 25-man Delhi squad named by Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) for the first two marches of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26. According to a report by The Times of India, Pant is set to return to action for Delhi in the match against Himachal Pradesh that begins n October 5. This is the second match of the Elite Group D for Delhi. He is also set to captain his domestic side in that game. This will be a test for Pant, as he aims to get fully fit before being selected for the Test Series vs South Africa in December.

Even though Rishabh Pant will be captain for the second match against Himachal Pradesh, it is Ayush Badoni who has been named the captain of the side. He will be the one to lead Delhi in the first match of the Ranji Trophy season against Hyderabad, Yash Dhull has been named as his deputy.
