PM Narendra Modi congratulates Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu for Gaza Peace deal, release of hostages

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu after Hamas agreed to release hostages under a US-sponsored peace plan. The plan is popularly known as Gaza Peace Plan and was brokered by US President Donald Trump.

PM Modi’s call with Benjamin Netanyahu

PM Narendra Modi posted about the call he had with his “friend” Netanyahu on Thursday, where the 2 world leaders discussed the Gaza Peace Plan. He wrote on social media platform, ‘X’, “Called my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu, to congratulate him on the progress made under President Trump’s Gaza peace plan. We welcome the agreement on the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.”

The PM emphasised that India condemns any acts of terrorism happening anywhere in the world. He asserted that there was no justification for acts of terrorism.

In turn Netanyahu thanked PM Modi for his congratulatory message and support to Israel. The 2 leaders agreed to continue working together in future too.

A statement from Israel read, “The Indian PM remarked that PM Netanyahu has always been a close friend, and that the friendship between them will remain steadfast.”

PM Modi also spoke to US President Donald Trump after the hostage release was finalised, post the Gaza Peace Plan. Apart from congratulating him over the success of the Peace Plan, PM Modi discussed the ongoing trade negotiations between the 2 countries. Both leaders agreed to stay in touch in the coming weeks.
