A young woman in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, chased down a man who allegedly slapped her while riding a scooter. After a viral video captured the confrontation, the accused was arrested by Premnagar police, who are searching for his two accomplices.
In what is known as an act of immense courage and quick thinking, a victim reportedly chased down a two-wheeler perpetrator for over 50 metres after being assaulted and slapped in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, October 20.
In a video that went viral on social media, the girl was seen chasing the man for around 50 metres before catching him and pulling him off his scooter, as bystanders and onlookers watched the confrontation unfold. Shen then allegedly thrashed him as a crowd gathered at the spot.
Since cases of street harassment and eve-teasing continue to pose significant safety concerns for women in public spaces, the girl’s brave call to take the matter into her own hands to confront the alleged harasser has drawn attention online, with the video going viral on social media.

How Did the Incident Unfold?
The streets of Jhansi witnessed a dramatic confrontation near the Malgodam railway crossing in the Premnagar area, where a man allegedly harassed a woman riding a scooter. The accused was reportedly confronted by the woman after he allegedly slapped her and attempted to flee the scene on his two-wheeler.
In a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), three men can be seen riding on a single scooter before one of them allegedly slaps the girl. Instead of remaining passive spectators, the woman took immediate action. She sprinted after the scooter, grabbed the alleged harasser, and forcefully dragged him off the moving vehicle.
Immediately, the crowd began to gather around the accused as the confrontation escalated. Seeing the victim fearlessly stand her ground, several onlookers stepped in to ensure the suspect could not slip away again.

Under pressure from the gathered crowd, who witnessed the girl chasing down the harasser, the suspect reportedly folded his hands, apologized repeatedly, and even touched the woman’s feet to beg for forgiveness.
The bystanders promptly informed local law enforcement about the confrontation. Officers from Premnagar Police Station arrived swiftly, took the accused into custody, and initiated formal legal proceedings based on the complaint and viral footage.
What Action Did Police Take Against Alleged Harrasser?
The Premnagar Police immediately arrived at the scene after the bystanders informed them of the incident, and then they took the accused into custody as part of the investigation into the alleged harassment in a public place.
According to local reports, Premnagar police station in-charge Sher Singh has stated that legal action was initiated based on the formal complaint filed by the victim. The Jhansi Police administration instructed the Premnagar SHO to file a formal First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) covering molestation, assault, and public harassment.
Senior officials also stated that an investigation is currently underway to identify and question the two accomplices who were accompanying the accused on the two-wheeler when the assault occurred.
