Bollywood actor recently appeared on Tanmay Bhat’s YouTube channel. As part of Bhat’s viral reaction series, Varun reacted to his own memes. He reacted to his infamous crooked smile for which he got trolled immensely online. He also took a harmless dig at Arjun Kapoor. Here’s what he said:

As part of the promotion of his recent film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Varun Dhawan appeared on YouTuber Tanmay Bhat’s reaction series to react his own memes. Varun became a target of online trolling after his crooked smile went viral.
He reacted to one such meme in which he was smiling while wearing a uniform. He said that the picture is AI-generated as he never wore that uniform, and his face seems to be from another movie.
Reacting to the meme, Varun said, “True story, jab ye aaya to maine bola maine pehna kab uniform. Border to maine abhi ki hai. Ye uniform Border ki nahi hai, ye baal aise nahi the. Ye jo chehra hai ye ABCD 2 ka hai aur body to meri hai hi nahi. Poora AI hai ye photo (When this came out, I wondered when had I worn this uniform. I did Border right before this. The uniform here is not from Border. The hair looks different. The face is from ABCD 2, and the body is certainly not mine. This picture is AI-generated.”
Varun also said that he has learnt to take it all the memes and trolling in his stride. He also said that since everybody gets trolled these days, actors wait for someone else to be in the limelight so that it keeps them out of focus. He also poked fun at actor .
Varun added, “Mere trolling ke baad mujhe 3 ads mile. 2026 mein aisa kaunsa manushya hai jiski trolling nahi hoti. Hum thoda rukte hain ki iski aaj mere se zyada ho jayegi to mere se aage nikal jayega. Jab mere pe aaya to Arjun khush ho gaya tha (I got 3 ads after that meme went viral. Everyone gets trolled these days. We look forward to someone else getting heat, so it takes away some of the focus from us. When I was targeted, Arjun [Kapoor] must be the happiest).”
Arjun and Varun are friends and colleagues. Arjun was incessantly trolled all through 2025 to the point it caused concern for his mental health and wellbeing. The actor also faced trolling in the past over his acting skills, failed movies, and personal life.
On the work front, Varun was last seen in his father David Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The romantic comedy also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in key roles. Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai follows a crumbling marriage and love story that get intertwined by two pregnancies.
The film failed to leave its mark at the box office, receiving mixed reviews from audience and critics. It earned only Rs 36 crore net in five days.
