India will kick off the New Zealand tour with a five-match T20I series at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The Indian team under Shreyas Iyer has achieved mixed results, having suffered defeats to Ireland and England, but defeating Afghanistan and drawing against the West Indies.
India have named a strong squad for the T20I series, however, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested. Bumrah also didn’t play against the West Indies, and the lack of venom in the Indian bowling lineup was clearly visible. The New Zealand team can be severe against bad balling, and India will have to do really well with the ball to make it a competitive series.
For New Zealand, they’ll be led by Mitchell Santner, who will have explosive players like Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Daryl Mitchell, Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, among others to test the Indian team.
