PSG beat Barcelona 4-2 to extend 13-match unbeaten run in Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain secured a 4-2 victory over Barcelona at the Parc des Princes, extending their unbeaten streak in the UEFA Champions League to 13 matches and maintaining their position at the top of the group standings.

Desire Doue, Lucas Hernandez, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz scored for PSG, who retained a perfect record in the competition. Barcelona’s goals came from Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal, but the Catalan side suffered their first defeat of the 2026-27 season.

PSG started strongly, pressuring Barcelona from the outset. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hit the woodwork within five minutes, while Ousmane Dembele and Doue tested goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Barcelona struggled with possession early on and further disruption arose when Dembele appeared to sustain a hamstring injury before the midway point of the first half, leading to his substitution by Ferran Torres.

The visitors gradually improved their play; Matvey Safonov denied Raphinha from close range. At the other end, Garcia produced multiple saves against Torres and Fabian Ruiz. Nevertheless, Doue broke the deadlock shortly before half-time with a powerful low shot into the bottom corner.

Barcelona had a chance to equalise soon after when Pedri set up Fermin Lopez in a one-on-one situation, but Lopez failed to convert. After the interval, Barcelona emerged with greater intent. Garcia was tested again on a PSG counter-attack, but Barcelona drew level through Espart, who marked his Champions League debut by running through PSG’s defence and scoring past Safonov.

Injuries to Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos interrupted PSG’s rhythm as Barcelona began to assert control. Torres nearly gave the visitors the lead but struck the post from close range with 20 minutes remaining.

PSG then capitalised on the resulting corner, with Lucas Hernandez heading home to restore their lead. Barcelona responded through Yamal, who outpaced Warren Zaire-Emery and scored from a tight angle to make it 2-2 with 12 minutes remaining.

The draw lasted only two minutes before Vitinha restored PSG’s lead with a powerful strike from the edge of the penalty area. Fabian Ruiz added a fourth goal late in the match to secure the win.

The victory reinforced PSG’s position atop the Champions League table. Barcelona, meanwhile, now face the challenge of addressing defensive weaknesses as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in 18 consecutive Champions League matches, a concern for head coach Hansi Flick as the team aims to contend further in the competition.
