Google Search Live in India: AI-powered real-time search with camera and voice

New Delhi: Google has launched its AI-based Search Live in India that provides a new experience to search results. The option is introduced in the Google application in the AI Mode and gives the opportunity to answer in real-time with voice and camera input. Google, which supports English and Hindi, has also declared that it would extend AI Mode to seven other Indian languages, such as Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Search Live is a combination of the Google Gemini AI and Project Astra technologies. The users are now able to ask questions when they are pointing their camera at objects, ingredients, or landmarks. The AI can interpret a visual context, hear a verbal query and give an immediate response. This simplifies the daily routine of DIY projects, cooking or studying.

How to use Google Search Live

First open Google and press the button ‘Live’ under the search box or use Google Lens. You then can talk, type or point your camera to receive contextual answers. Thus, a query such as ‘What is the order to combine these to make an iced matcha?’ will immediately give you recommendations and instructions on how to do it using the AI. The transcript button also allows users to toggle between voice and text, in addition to the fact that past sessions are stored in AI Mode history that can be accessed later.

Difference between Search Live and Gemini Live

Gemini Live is aimed at conversational communication with the Gemini AI of Google, whereas Search Live is intended to be used in real time as a multimodal search engine. It combines the responses provided after AI analysis with the enormous web index of Google to achieve more effective and precise results. The feature is able to understand what is seen through the camera and what is heard in the voice commands, which is useful in real-world settings such as watching over the shoulder, school projects or household chores.

Availability and language support

The app has been launched in India and can be found on both Android and iOS versions of the Google app as Search Live. Users may become part of the AI Mode experiment in Labs, and it will be available to more users in the future. AI Mode is currently available in more than 35 languages in 200 countries all over the world, making Google Search AI-powered and available to millions of users.
