Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff has been provided with police protection following the firing incident targeting him in Mumbai, while investigators are examining a possible extortion angle, police sources said.
According to the sources, Shroff did not have security cover before the attack. Investigators suspect that the absence of protection may have made him an easier target for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which is allegedly linked to the incident. However, police stressed that the motive has not yet been conclusively established and the investigation remains underway.
The Mumbai Police Protection Branch has deployed bodyguards for the actor. The local police station has also assigned an officer and several personnel to provide security, although authorities have not specified the category of protection granted to him.
In a major development, three suspects allegedly involved in the attack were detained at Kota railway station in Rajasthan on Monday during a joint operation by the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police.
One of the detained individuals is a juvenile. Another suspect has been identified as Hritik Kumar alias Roshan, 22, a native of Begusarai district in Bihar who was reportedly living in Andheri West, Mumbai, and working as a bike rider. The third suspect, Rehan, 18, is a resident of Sonipat in Haryana.
Investigators are examining the suspects’ backgrounds and alleged roles in the firing incident. Police in Sonipat have also questioned Sameer, a friend of Rehan, to establish whether he has information relevant to the case. Sameer had previously been lodged in jail alongside Rehan in a case involving illegal weapons.
Police clarified that Sameer was questioned but had not been formally arrested in connection with the attack.
The three detained suspects were expected to be taken to Mumbai for further investigation. Police are continuing to examine the circumstances of the firing, the alleged links of the suspects and whether the attack was connected to an extortion attempt.
