On this matter, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramaniam said on Thursday – The license of the company has been currently suspended and after further investigation, it will be canceled permanently in 2 days. Let us tell you, on Thursday, Madhya Pradesh Police arrested S Ranganathan, the owner of a Tamil Nadu pharmaceutical company manufacturing Coldrif cough syrup, in connection with the death of 20 children. Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla informed on Wednesday that 20 children have died after drinking Coldrif cough syrup. 5 are undergoing treatment. Of these 20 children, 17 are from Chhindwara district, 2 from Betul district and 2 from Pandhurna district.

Group of doctors on the road for the release of arrested doctor

On Tuesday, a group of doctors and representatives of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) protested in Chhindwara district. They were demanding the release of Praveen Soni, a government doctor, who was recently jailed in connection with the death of children allegedly drinking cough syrup in the district. Dr. Soni, a government pediatrician at the Civil Hospital in Parasia, Chhindwara, was recently suspended and later faced legal action, which led to him being sent to 14-day judicial custody on Monday.

Door-to-door campaign to confiscate Coldrif syrup

On Monday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a high-level meeting at the CM residence in Bhopal over the Chhindwara incident and ordered the suspension of two drug inspectors, the Deputy Director of Food and Drug Administration and the transfer of a drug controller. The CM also directed that along with banning the sale of Coldrif syrup, the stock present in the shops should also be confiscated. A major campaign should be launched to recover the medicine from the homes of families who have consumed it in Chhindwara and neighboring districts.
