TCS fired 12,000 employees, attrition rate also increased
India’s largest IT company TCS has decided to lay off about 12,000 employees in the 2025-26 financial year. This is approximately 2% of the total global workforce. The aim of the company is to improve its functioning and bring structural changes amid the rapidly increasing use of AI. Also, the attrition rate of employees in the quarter April-June 2025 stood at 13.8%, which is slightly higher than last year.
Layoffs in Google and design team due to AI projects
Global search engine giant Google laid off 100 employees from its design department. The company says that this step was necessary to increase focus on AI projects and infrastructure.

More than 32000 jobs cut in Wipro and HCL Tech
Wipro did not make the announcement officially, but according to reports the company cut 24,516 jobs. At the same time, HCL Tech laid off about 8,000 employees due to disinvestment and realignment in 2024.
Total loss of more than 25000 jobs in Accenture, Microsoft and others
Accenture laid off more than 11,000 employees. Microsoft cut 4,000 jobs in its software engineering business and about 6,000 jobs across the organization. Salesforce laid off about 4,000 customer support staff. Cognizant tried to make the company lighter and faster by laying off 3,500 employees. IBM India also reduced about 1,000 job roles.
