Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson’s romantic fantasy comedy Wicker, starring Academy Award winner Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, is set to release in India on October 30, 2026.
Distributed in India by PVR INOX Pictures in association with Superfine Films, the film features Colman and Skarsgård in the lead roles, alongside Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Debicki and Richard E. Grant in pivotal roles.
Wicker premiered at the Eccles Theater in Utah, United States, as part of the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2026. The film also served as the closing title of the 59th Sitges Film Festival on October 18, 2026.
The film is scheduled to release theatrically in the United States on October 23, followed by releases in India and the United Kingdom on October 30. It will arrive in Australian cinemas on November 5.
Speaking about the film in their production notes, directors Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson said, “You can’t love another person until you accept that you are deserving of love.”
They described their creative vision as an attempt to bring together “a satirical comedy about sex and marriage, a unique visual spectacle, and a strange love story that would ground it all.”
Sharing their guiding ambition for the project, the filmmakers added, “Our first goal is always to provide a good time.”
A cinematic adaptation of Ursula Wills’ short story The Wicker Husband, the film follows an ostracised fisherwoman who commissions a local basketmaker to create a husband for her. When the extraordinary wicker-made companion surpasses her expectations, his arrival sets off a wave of jealousy, fascination and upheaval throughout the village.
The film is backed by Topic Studios in collaboration with Tango Entertainment, Votiv, Yoki, Inc., and South of the River Picture. Its music has been composed by Anna Meredith.
