Dia Mirza Celebrates 25 Years of RHTDM, Recalls ‘Magic’ of First Film

Mumbai: Actress Dia Mirza recently marked a significant milestone as her debut film, ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ (RHTDM), completed 25 years since its release.

The romantic drama, which premiered on October 19, 2001, holds a special place in the hearts of many, including its lead actress.

Taking to social media, Dia shared a heartfelt video montage of throwback pictures, movie posters, and behind-the-scenes moments from the film. She reminisced about her journey as Reena, the character she portrayed, and expressed gratitude for the film’s enduring appeal across generations. “That 19-year-old girl dancing in the rain is immensely grateful for the love and generosity you have all bestowed upon us over these 25 years,” she wrote, highlighting the connection she still feels with her character and the film’s fans.

Dia recalled the demanding 18-hour workdays and endless retakes during the shoot, yet described the experience as “MAGIC.” She also acknowledged the timeless popularity of the film’s soundtrack, composed by Harris Jayaraj, with songs like ‘Zara Zara’ and ‘Sach Keh Raha Hai’ still resonating with audiences today. Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, RHTDM not only marked Dia’s Hindi cinema debut but also R. Madhavan’s official Bollywood entry, with Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role. The film was a Hindi remake of Menon’s Tamil hit ‘Minnale’.
