PM Modi at India Mobile Congress 2025: Telecom Sector demonstrates India’s success

New Delhi: At the inaugural session of the India Mobile Congress 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “India Mobile Congress and the telecom sector, demonstrates India’s success and the power of the vision of self-reliance. People used to make fun of the concept of ‘Make in India’. Those living in suspicion and doubt used to question, ‘how can India make advanced technology?’, because in their time, it took many decades for new technology to reach India. The country has answered that. The country that was once struggling with 2G, today in the same country, 5G has reached nearly every district.”

The Prime Minister was speaking at the opening of the ninth edition of the three day technology summit, at Yashobhoomi. PM Modi went on to say, “Compared to 2014, domestic electronics production has increased by six times, and by 28 times when it comes to mobile phone manufacturing, and when it comes to exports, by 127 times. Over the previous decade, the mobile phone manufacturing sector has directly created lakhs of jobs. Today, 45 domestic companies are involved in the supply chain of a major smartphone manufacturer. This has produced 3.5 lakh jobs in the country. This is not the data of just one company, there are many in the country that are manufacturing at scale.”
