A fast track court in Dehradun in Uttarakhand has sentenced a blind teacher to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a student. In this case, the vice principal of the school has also been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for not taking action even after the complaint. This incident took place in the year 2018 at the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in Dehradun. In this case, on Tuesday itself the court had declared the teacher and the vice principal guilty.
After this decision, the police took both the accused into custody from the court itself and sent them to jail. According to Court ADGC Kishore Kumar Singh, NIEPVD is being operated on Rajpur Road in Dehradun. It is alleged that in the year 2018, a minor and blind student studying here was raped. In this regard, the student complained to the Vice Principal of the institute, but he tried to hush up the matter. After this, information about the matter was given to the District Child Welfare Committee.
He absconded while the case was being registered
The committee itself had registered a case against teacher Suchit Narang in Rajpur police station in this regard. According to the case diary, as soon as the case was registered, the accused teacher Suchit absconded and after a few days filed a bail petition in the Uttarakhand High Court. After the petition was rejected from here, Suchit surrendered on 25 September 2018. On the other hand, when the police started investigating the case, it was found that immediately after the incident, the student had given a complaint against the accused teacher to the Vice Principal.
Vice Principal had tried to suppress the matter
Instead of taking action against the accused, he tried to suppress the matter. In such a situation, the police included the name of the Vice Principal in the case and presented the charge sheet. After this the case was heard in the fast track court. Where the court found both the accused guilty and considered it the most heinous crime. In this case, while the court has sentenced the accused teacher to rigorous imprisonment for one year, it has also ordered the vice principal to be sent to jail for six months. According to ADGC, the director of the institute had resigned only after the charge sheet came in the court. The principal and vice principal were removed from their posts.
