Prabhas and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-anticipated action entertainer Spirit has received a new release date, setting up a potential box-office clash with Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana Part 2 during the Diwali festive period next year.
The makers announced on Sunday that Spirit will arrive in theatres worldwide on October 29, 2027. Meanwhile, Ramayana Part 2, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, is expected to release on November 5, 2027. The mythological drama features Ranbir Kapoor and Yash in lead roles.
Earlier on Sunday, Vanga had teased fans on X, formerly Twitter, about the announcement of the film’s revised release date and a new look featuring Prabhas.
The Animal filmmaker wrote, “Dear Prabhas Anna fans. I want to introduce a NEW POSTER, featuring the man behind the shades, with the NEW RELEASE date on it. Just few minutes…#Spirit #OneBadHabit #IndiasBiggestSuperStar. (sic)”
Soon afterwards, Vanga shared another post confirming the release date.
“Check this out……..#Spirit #InSpiritMode @TSeries @VangaPictures #IndiasBiggestSuperStar 29TH OCTOBER DIWALI 2027. Worldwide RELEASE DATE (sic),” he wrote.
The newly unveiled first-look poster features Prabhas dressed entirely in black, wearing a black sports cap and a pair of stylish sunglasses.
Spirit is backed by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga under the banners of T-Series Films and Bhadrakali Pictures. The film was initially scheduled to release in March 2027, but the makers have now pushed its theatrical debut to October.
The film stars Prabhas and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles, with Vivek Oberoi, Kanchana and Aishwarya Desai appearing in significant roles.
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga. However, the director has previously worked with Triptii Dimri in the 2023 blockbuster Animal, which starred Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
With the two big-budget films scheduled to arrive within a week of each other, the festive release window could see a major box-office contest between Prabhas’ action entertainer and Ranbir Kapoor’s mythological drama.
