Pregnant Journalist Files Police Complaint Against Rahul Gandhi Over ‘Pushing’ Incident During INDIA Bloc Protest

Journalist Richa Parasar, who had earlier shared a video alleging that Rahul Gandhi grabbed her hand and pulled her before his security personnel pushed her during the INDIA bloc’s protest near the Supreme Court on October 12, has now filed a criminal complaint against the Congress leader, seeking an FIR over the incident.

In her complaint, Parasar alleged that she was mistreated, threatened and subjected to criminal force while covering the protest. She has sought police action in the matter.

Richa Parasar Recounts Alleged Altercation

Parasar, who said she was three months pregnant at the time, claimed she fell down the Supreme Court steps and sustained injuries after the alleged altercation.

“I extended the mic and they made a gesture so I move it but I saw other mic IDs being pushed so I also put mine…Rahul Gandhi moved forward with a nasty expression, he grabbed my hand and pulled me forward and then his bodyguards pushed me…I fell down the stairs of Supreme Court, falling on my face,” she said.

“I did not ask him any questions nor did I say anything to him. I fell down the stairs and my cameraman fell on me and top of him 4 people also fell. I fell on my stomach. I got hurt on my hand and my phone broke, my knees also got hurt,” she alleged.

Parasar Questions Congress Over Women’s Safety

In the video shared on Instagram after the incident, Parasar also alleged that people supporting Gandhi shouted at her instead of helping her. Referring to his “Smash the Patriarchy” remark, she questioned the Congress over its stance on women’s safety and urged media organisations to release footage of the incident.

The Congress has denied the allegations against Gandhi, describing the claims as BJP propaganda and questioning Parasar’s account of the incident.

The complaint seeks police action over the alleged altercation. The allegations remain disputed.
