Netflix has unveiled the teaser for its upcoming gangster drama , offering a glimpse into a world where women hold power and fiercely protect their territory from rival forces.
Released to coincide with birthday, the teaser introduces a fictional South Indian city called Pernuru, where the story unfolds in the 1980s.
What’s In The Teaser For Akka?
Set in a society governed by women, Akka portrays Pernuru as a kingdom built, ruled and defended by generations of women. Deep-rooted traditions and simmering rivalries shape this world, where those in power refuse to bow to anyone.
Keerthy Suresh and headline the series as Bhavani and Rudra, respectively. While Bhavani’s introduction establishes her as a formidable presence, Rudra’s arrival appears to threaten the existing power structure, hinting at a clash that could disrupt the city’s established order.

The teaser features women dressed in traditional attire engaging in fierce confrontations. It also highlights their involvement in the gold trade and their determination to protect the standing and legacy of Akka. The visuals suggest a tense narrative driven by power struggles, competing loyalties and the fight to maintain control.
Speaking about her character, Radhika Apte said, “Rudra is a fascinating character, driven by her own convictions and an instinct to challenge the world around her. What drew me to the series was the complexity of its characters and the tensions that emerge from their differing perspectives.”
Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, Akka is produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, in association with Yogendra Mogre and Akshaye Widhani. The gangster drama is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 30, 2026.
