Pradeep Ranganathan, Mamitha Baiju’s Hit Film To Get A Sequel? Director Keerthiswaran Drops Hint

Keerthiswaran has dropped major good news to fans by teasing a potential sequel to Dude, the 2025 hit starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju. Speaking at a recent event, the filmmaker revealed that he has already pitched an idea for Dude 2 and is waiting to see if it develops into a full-fledged sequel. He also opened up about his next directorial venture, hinting that the script will need a big star. While he stopped short of naming the actor, fans believe that  could be the leading man in the upcoming project.

Keerthiswaran revealed that he has already discussed an idea for a sequel with lead actor Pradeep Ranganathan. “I have pitched an idea to Pradeep Ranganathan for Dude 2, which has the spirit of Dude. If it works out, it will be a sequel or a continuation of the film,” he said Released in 2025, Dude starred Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju as cousins Agan and Kural, who launch an event-planning business together. The film emerged as a major commercial success and became Pradeep’s third consecutive Rs 100-crore grosser after Love Today and Dragon.

However, it was not short of controversies. A section of the audience felt that certain parts of the film were problematic, including a part where the female lead’s gesture is equated adult film actor. While fans wished the director to talk about it, and clarify his stance, he did so by allegedly responding in a ‘rude’ way on social media.

Speaking at a Behindwoods event, the filmmaker revealed that he is currently working on a script packed with commercial elements and emotions. “I am currently working on a story. It has commercial elements, emotions, and a lot more. The script requires a star, and I have such a star in mind. Very soon, we will make an announcement,” he said. Although the director did not confirm the actor’s identity, recent reports say that Silambarasan might star in it. The actor who is currently shooting for Arasan with Vetri Maaran, could take up Keerthiswaran’s film next soon after he wraps his work.

While Mythri Movie Makers was initially expected to produce the film, discussions are reportedly underway with Sithara Entertainments and AGS Entertainment. Pre-production work is said to be progressing, with the project expected to go on floors in August if all plans fall into place.
